Supervised homework:
Supervised homework can be beneficial in a variety of educational contexts. The major benefits are:
Students are assisted and guided to grasp complex concepts they find challenging. It teaches students sound time management and organisational skills. Students will develop good study habits and a strong work ethic. Ultimately it develops a student’s confidence and reduce stress.
Supervised homework will never replace a student’s individual effort; it can rather enhance the student’s ability to become a confident and independent learner.

Study skills will be presented as a Study Skills course over 12 x 1 hour sessions. The spread of these hours will be determined by whether it is done over weekends or holidays. The course will be taught in small groups of 6 students of equal ability which will ensure personal attention.
This interactive programme is differentiated into 3 levels, namely:
Elementary is for students who need help with their basic study skills and learner development.
Intermediate will focus more on students who have already progressed but who need assistance with more specific skills and learner development.
Advance level will develop more advanced skills such as research and enquiry skills as well as data analysis skills.
Exam-specific revision:
While exam-specific revision is valuable, it is also important for students to maintain a balanced study approach. Exam-specific revision should always be part of a comprehensive study routine which includes regular class attendance, consistent study habits and the development of a perceptive understanding of all subject matter. Studying well in advance and not depending on cramming is always more effective for long-term retention and understanding.
Exam-specific revision is focused on practising exam type questions and sound time management. It helps students to identify gaps in their knowledge and skills in order to address these timeously. Ultimately it helps students to be prepared for exams and as such it reduces stress and anxiety.
